On the flip side: If a man were to ask for time off to look after a sick child would you ask why his female partner couldn't do it? Small businesses don't have to report their gender pay gap, they are, however, required to treat women fairly. And fairness in the workplace promotes a happy engaging environment - and earns the boss respect from all colleagues.
